Biography

Samara Iodice began her career as an Environmental Engineer, but was quickly introduced to the media field when she became an instructional writer and web programmer on several engineering projects with the U.S. Navy. This prompted her to go back to film school, where she focused on corporate media production.

Since changing careers, Samara has been continuously busy as a freelance writer and producer for such educational institutions as London Business School and Rice University, and various other clients including Southern California Edison, Federated Department Stores, Duty-Free Shops, and WellPoint.

Samara has also had the opportunity to write, produce, shoot, and edit many projects on subjects of personal interest. She recently completed a documentary on the demise of the historical bookstore, Book City--a 30-year old family and community tradition on Hollywood Boulevard. The project features heartfelt interviews with author Ray Bradbury and actors Michael Lerner, Gary Owens, and Robert Easton, as well as many other regular patrons who recount their memories from when the Boulevard was a "bookstore row."

Another of Samara's favorite projects is The Underestimated Tortoise, an animated short about a down and out tortoise who saves the day and becomes the hero of the forest. Samara's prose version of The Underestimated Tortoise has been used as a teaching aid for high school students in the Los Angeles Unified School District. The film version is currently in pre-production.

In her free time, Samara is an avid Celtic fiddler and animal lover, and is known by some as the bird whisperer because of the many wild birds that frequent her backyard paradise. She resides with her brilliant 15-year border collie, Sadie.
